I have more than 23 years of experience in journalism, 17 of them as a copy editor and page designer. I’m excellent at catching typos!
After graduating from the University of Evansville in 1994 with a B.S. in journalism, I worked for 5 years at the Logansport (Ind.) Pharos-Tribune and 15 years at the (Flagstaff) Arizona Daily Sun. Then I was at the (Prescott, Ariz.) Daily Courier for 2 1/2 years before I left journalism for Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters.
As you might imagine, coronavirus is making it tough for YBBBS to continue its mission, defending the potential of kids in Yavapai County, and I’m facing a drastic reduction in work hours. Editing gigs will help me fill the gap.
I’m also a published romance author, both independently and with the now-defunct Turquoise Morning Press. My All’s Fair in Love & Baseball series follows the men of the fictional Arizona Condors semiprofessional baseball team — and the women who love them.
“She’s adept at flagging character miscues, highlighting plot holes, and researching details to make sure the novel flows from first sentence to last into a seamless read.“
There’s nothing more important to me than a first-rate editor who I can trust, and Arlene Hittle has proven her worth through six of my novels.
Ms. Hittle not only provides line-by-line edits, she offers the reason why she’s suggested a change and allows the author to decide whether or not to change it. She’s an author herself and understands that sometimes what the author intends isn’t always what the reader sees and offers her expertise as to how it can be improved upon to benefit both author and reader.
She’s adept at flagging character miscues, highlighting plot holes, and researching details to make sure the novel flows from first sentence to last into a seamless read.
If you’re looking for quality at a fair price, look no further. Ms. Hittle will deliver a polished manuscript in a timely manner without fail.
